Set shipping protection fees

A shipping protection fee is what the customer pays to cover an order in transit. In Shipcheck you set fees under Settings → Shipping protection prices. You can charge one fee for every order (fixed), or different fees by cart value (dynamic).

Fees use your shop currency. Each fee must be between 0.5 and 1,000,000.

Open shipping protection prices

1. Open the Shipcheck app in Shopify Admin.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Under General, open Shipping protection prices.

If you have not created a shipping protection product yet, choose Create product first. Shipcheck creates a default product with one open-ended tier so you can set a fee right away.

You can also open this page from the home onboarding step Set your protection price → Update protection prices.

Fixed pricing

Use fixed pricing when every protected order should pay the same fee, no matter the cart total.

1. On Shipping protection prices, keep a single pricing tier.
2. Leave Min cart price at 0 and Max cart price as and above (these stay fixed for the only tier).
3. Enter the fee customers should pay in Protection fee.
4. Save with the save bar at the top of the page.

That one tier covers every cart total. Customers always see that fee when they add shipping protection.

On the free plan you can edit this open-ended tier. Adding more tiers requires a paid plan.

Dynamic pricing

Use dynamic pricing when the protection fee should change with the cart total. Shipcheck does this with cart-value tiers: each row is a cart range and its own Protection fee.

Dynamic (tiered) pricing needs an active paid subscription. Without one, Add new tier and Generate stay locked — upgrade from the banner on the page if you need more than one tier.

Tiers must stay contiguous: the next tier’s minimum is the previous tier’s maximum, the first tier starts at 0, and the last tier always ends at and above.

Add tiers manually

1. Open Shipping protection prices.
2. Choose Add new tier. Shipcheck inserts a bounded range before the final and above tier.
3. For each row, set Max cart price and Protection fee.
4. Add or remove middle tiers as needed with Add new tier or Remove tier.
5. Save with the save bar.

Example: charge 5 for carts from 0 to 100, 8 from 100 to 250, and 12 for 250 and above.

Generate tiers

If you want a ladder of ranges quickly:

1. Open Shipping protection prices.
2. Choose Generate.
3. Set Starting cart price, Increase cart price by, Increase insurance price by, and How many tiers do you want?
4. Choose Generate. This replaces every tier you already have.
5. Review the table, adjust any Protection fee or range if needed, then save.

You can create up to 100 tiers. After you save, the cart, checkout, and thank-you widgets pick the fee that matches the customer’s cart total.
